Viviane Eng is the literary programs assistant at PEN America. A native New Yorker, she received her BA in American studies and English from Wesleyan University. During her time in college, Eng served as an editor for The Wesleyan Argus, the school’s newspaper and wrote her honors thesis on gentrification and race relations in Manhattan’s Chinatown. She continues to harbor a passion for writing about cities and exploring how race, culture, and power interact. Eng is returning to PEN America after an internship in 2017 and previously worked on the national programs team at the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.
