Sandy Mui is the digital communications coordinator at PEN America, overseeing and creating digital and web content across Prior to PEN America, Mui worked as a journalist covering hard news, features, entertainment, and sports, and served as communications associate at WITNESS and a digital intern at Everytown for Gun Safety. Mui holds a BS in journalism and media studies from the Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College, where she received the Vanguard Prize in Journalism. She also holds an MA in liberal studies (MALS) and certificate in interactive technology and pedagogy from The Graduate Center, City University of New York.

Mui is author of Journalism and COVID-19: The Toll of a Pandemic, an interactive project focused on the toll of the coronavirus pandemic on journalism in the United States. She recently developed The Local Accountability Journalism Tracker, a project on local news stories that have sparked major change, which received the 2020-2021 MALS Capstone Project Prize from The Graduate Center.
