Jamal Joseph

Jamal Joseph is a poet, filmmaker and Oscar nominee who earned two college degrees while incarcerated for his participation in the Black Panther Party.

He has appeared on Def Poetry Jam and American Gangsters, among other television programs.

Joseph has won a Cine Golden Eagle, a National Black program Consortium Prized Pieces Award, a Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame Award, a Union Square Award, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and a best song Oscar nomination for his work with Impact in the film August Rush.

Panther Baby is his first book.
