Igiaba Scego

Igiaba Scego was born in Rome in 1974 to Somali parents who took refuge in Italy following a coup d’état in their native country, where her father served as foreign minister. She is a writer and a journalist, holds a Ph.D. in education (on postcolonial subjects), and has done extensive academic work in Italy and around the world. Among her books, Beyond Babylon has been translated by PEN/Heim Grant winner Aaron Robertson.
