Esther Allen


Esther Allen was born in Auburn, California, in 1962.

She is a writer and translator who teaches at Baruch College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. She co-founded the PEN World Voices Festival in 2005.

Her translations include The Selected Writings of José MartíLands of Memory by Felisberto Hernández, Dark Back of Time by Javier Marías, The Tale of the Rose by Consuelo de Saint Exupèry, Dancing with Cuba: A Memoir of the Revolution
