Emma Deshpande is the executive assistant and Board liaison at PEN America. She grew up in Connecticut and lived in London, England for four years before moving to New York City. She earned a BA with honors in English language and literature from University College London, and she is an MFA candidate in creative writing at New York University. Her fiction was shortlisted in the Jerry Jazz Musician Short Fiction Contest in 2020 and won the UCL Publishers’ Prize in 2017. Her short story “The Phone Rings One Evening” was published in the 2020 fiction anthology More Time.
