Donald Vincent is PEN America’s Community Outreach Coordinator. Donald will spend the next year helping to drive the projects, programs, and events being put on through our Press Freedom Incentive Fund. Donald spent the last seven years leading community engagement and skills-building activities with FEMA as a Program Specialist in Boston. He served as the country’s Higher Education Specialist, and partnered with a diverse range of organizations and advocates to deliver emergency preparedness training in vulnerable communities. While in Boston, Donald organized an ongoing reading series, which put on grassroots fundraising events in support of youth literacy, and worked closely with poets as a member of PEN New England’s Freedom to Write Committee. Donald has also taught Literature and Writing courses at Emerson College. He holds a B.A. in Writing and Public Relations from Loyola University and an M.F.A. in Poetry from Emerson College.
