David Albahari
David Albahari, a writer and translator from the former Yugoslavia, is the author of ten collections of short stories and eleven novels in Serbian.
Description of Death won the Ivo Andrić Award, and Bait won the NIN Award.
His work has been translated into sixteen languages, and his latest novel available in English is Leeches (2011). In 1994, he moved with his family to Canada, where he still lives.

Moscow-controlled Supreme Court in Crimea has shortened the prison term of journalist Vladyslav Yesypenko by one year to 5 years.
Yesypenko—the 2022 PEN/Barbey Freedom to Write Award honoree—was detained in Russian-occupied Crimea on March 10, 2021.
