Cobina Gillitt

Cobina Gillitt, Ph.D. (translator, scholar, educator) serves on the Translation Committee of the PEN American Center and is an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance at Purchase College, SUNY. She is a translator of Indonesian into English. Her recent translation work, as editor and translator, is The Lontar Anthology of Indonesian Drama Vol.3: New Directions 1965-1988 (Lontar Foundation 2010). Her scholarly work on contemporary Indonesian theatre has appeared in Antigone on the Contemporary World Stage (Oxford University Press, 2011), The Senses in Performance (Routledge, 2006), The Asian Theatre Journal, The Drama Review, and Theatre Survey. She has also contributed to several encyclopedias on Asian theatre and contemporary drama, including The Oxford Encyclopedia of Theatre and Performance, The Columbia Encyclopedia of Modern Drama, The Greenwood Encyclopedia of Asian Theatre and the forthcoming Cambridge World Encyclopedia of Actors and Acting.
