Christy Wensley is the senior manager of special events for our Authors’ Evenings series. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in English at University College London (UCL). Her work examines 19th- and 20th-century literature through the lens of critical race and queer theories. In addition to her university teaching, she has had the wonderful opportunity to teach younger students and has led courses on African American literature and art for UCL’s Widening Participation program and taught high school English in Connecticut. Prior to her graduate study, she worked in marketing and communications for New York City nonprofit organizations, including 92nd Street Y. She is an avid fan of contemporary dance and has written about dance for London Student and for the Lucy Writers Platform at Cambridge University. Originally from Bakersfield, CA, she has also lived in Los Angeles and London, but always returns to New York. Wensley holds a BA in English from Columbia University and MPhil in American literature from the University of Cambridge.

Our sister organization PEN Belarus has spent years uplifting writers and supporting the freedom to write. Now, the government is trying to shut them down. Show your support and tell them they’re not alone.
