Bryn Carlson is a fellow for the digital safety team at PEN America. This fall she will begin to pursue an M.F.A. in fiction writing at Columbia University. In 2021, she taught English at a high school in South Korea on a Fulbright grant. She earned her B.A. from Whitman College, graduating summa cum laude and with Honors in English. During her research for her undergraduate thesis on modernism, Bryn first became aware of the founding of PEN International and the crucial work that PEN America has done to protect free expression at both a national and global scale. She is looking forward to contributing to such work while learning more about the human rights field.
