Hopefully you made it to the first ever New York Poetry Festival, but in case you missed it, there’s a run-down of the weekend-long event at the Rumpus.

If you’re looking for a solid opportunity to publish your first book of poems (or second or third or whatever), send your manuscripts to the University of Colorado’s Subito Press Contest (open until August 15).

For those in the Bay Area, Small Press Distribution is having/hosting two rad, upcoming events:

• Displaced Press Book Launch Party: with readings by Brandon Brown, Samantha Giles, Taylor Brady, and Rob Halpern

• SPD Sidewalk Sale: with “scores of fabulous books for $3. Nothing over $10.”

Poet Mark Bibbins, author of The Dance of No Hard Feelings (Graywolf, 2010), edits poetry for The Awl. Every installment of this series is rad. The newest features poems by Michael Schiavo.

This item isn’t poetry-related, but I just started following sci-fi author William Gibson on Twitter, and now it feels like I’m living in the future.
