The lineup for this year’s PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature was announced today at an event held in the beautiful courtyard of the Instituto Cervantes in New York.

Basque haikuists, Turkish epic singers and cage matches between sullen Scandinavian typographers not your thing? Fear not: This year’s theme is “Evolution/Revolution,” and if the lineup won’t quite send you running to the barricades, it should at least inspire you to buy tickets.

Among other events, I’m really hoping to make it to this year’s Translation Slam, in which internationally renowned translators will “take the spotlight and test their linguistic mettle against each other in a duel to the translation death.” Let the games begin!
