As the legal battle between Apple and the FBI escalates, PEN America, the New York-based writers’ free expression advocacy organization, has voiced their concerns over the right to privacy, data collection and government surveillance. Executive Director of PEN America Suzanne Nossel and Amie Stepanovich, U.S. Policy Manager at the digital freedom organization Access Now, discuss the technicalities of the Apple privacy battle which began when the FBI asked Apple to unlock the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino shooters as part of their investigation.
