On the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, we revisit Phil Klay, Nadifa Mohamed, Roxana Robinson, Joanna Scutts, and Albert Mobilio reading excerpts from their war-related fiction at the 2014 PEN World Voices Festival. The novel is the last form of writing to emerge from conflict zones: the long war in Iraq is only now beginning to reveal itself through fiction. Through their stories, these writers explore the true nature of war, the emotional depths and explosions, the spiritual costs and psychological complexities.
