Arrested Turkish author and journalist Aslı Erdoğan has noted that she had not been given her medication in prison and was being held in a solitary confinement cell. Her attorneys have objected to her arrest.
Iraqi media technician and journalist killed in separate attacks
Media technician Ali Ghani was killed in an attack by mortar fire while reporting in Jaziret al-Khalideya, in Iraq’s Anbar province on Saturday, August 20. Correspondent Hussein al-Fares was wounded in the same attack, according to Al-Ahad TV, which employed both men.

Mexican journalist wounded in mystery shooting by masked man
Mexican journalist Lucia López Castillo is in a serious condition after surviving a shooting outside her home Veracruz on Sunday. One of her kidneys had to be removed because of the damage caused by the bullet.
India: Television journalist harassed in South Delhi
A television journalist was harassed, allegedly by a group of four men in South Delhi on Wednesday. The victim managed to chase down the men and ensured that the police nabbed them. She also submitted a written complaint against them.
Iraqi Kurdistan: Kurdish journalist abducted, killed
An Iraqi Kurdish journalist who had been threatened by security services was abducted and found dead on August 13. Witnesses described his apparent kidnapping by unknown assailants following repeated interrogations by political police forces over the past 12 months.

Police assault journalist during #MyZimbabwe march
Freelance journalist Lucy Yasin confirmed she had been struck once with a baton by a member of the riot police despite having identified herself as a journalist. Marchers were presenting a petition to the Minister of Home Affairs protesting against police brutality.
Ai Weiwei says he was removed from exhibition for political reasons
Chinese artist Ai Weiwei said his work was removed from the inaugural Yinchuan Biennale in China for his “political sensitivity”. The exhibition, “For an Image, Faster than Light,” is slated to open in just two weeks at the Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan.
