World Voices Festival—Exposure: Politics, Sex, and Power

Rokudenashiko, a feminist Japanese manga artist making  colorful models of her vagina, Ali Asgar, an LGBTQ+ Bangladeshi performance artist, and Iranian singer-songwriter Mohsen Namjoo, the “Bob Dylan of Iran” (New York Times), will explore politics, gender and identity, and discuss their experiences facing persecution for their creative expression. The conversation will be moderated by Alexandra Munroe, Guggenheim Senior Curator for Asian Art. 

Exposure: Politics, Sex, and Power is being held on the third day of the World Voices Festival. Since its inception in the aftermath of 9/11, the festival has aimed to bridge cultural and state boundaries as the only international literature festival in the United States. Join us and more than 150 authors and artists from around the globe as we examine bigotry, misogyny, and xenophobia and to bolster the movement to counter them.
