Workshop: Gado—Drawing a Protest Line

In many parts of Africa, humor and satire are still a protest art. Gado, celebrated cartoonist, animator, and the mastermind behind Kenya’s evening satirical puppet show XYZ, is proof of that. Whether in music, cartoons, essays or plays, humor is cleverly used to say the unspeakable, what many are afraid to say in the open, to challenge and speak truth to power while facing intimidation and many other challenges. Gado will facilitate the workshop that interrogates the question: does protest art have any future?
