PEN America Winter 2018 Authors’ Evening with Ken Burns

This dinner will be hosted by Elizabeth and Dale Hemmerdinger at their Upper East Side home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 7:30 pm.

The Vietnam War: An Intimate History by Ken Burns

The dinner will celebrate Ken Burns’ documentary filmmaking career and his latest book, The Vietnam War: An Intimate History, a vivid, uniquely powerful history of the conflict that tore America apart—the companion volume to the major, multipart PBS documentary.

Ken Burns has produced and directed some of America’s most acclaimed historical documentaries, examining subjects like the Civil War, jazz, and baseball.

Seating at this dinner will be limited and available by making a donation to PEN America.

The PEN America Authors’ Evenings are nights of literary dinners in private homes and intimate settings in New York City. Please visit the Authors’ Evenings webpage for our full calendar of dinners.

Proceeds from the PEN America Authors’ Evenings dinners support PEN America’s programming to secure the liberty of persecuted and imprisoned writers around the world, to defend freedom of expression, and to promote literature and international cultural exchange.
