In countries riven by war and genocidal violence—from South Africa and Zimbabwe to the Congo, Rwanda, and Guatemala—what exactly are the possibilities for truth and reconciliation? What are the pitfalls? Join authors Rian Malan (My Traitor’s Heart), Lieve Joris (The Rebels’ Hour), Alexandra Fuller (Scribbling the Cat: Travels with an African Soldier), and Francisco Goldman (The Art of Political Murder: Who Killed the Bishop?) for a far-ranging discussion. Moderated by Paul van Zyl, who served as Executive Secretary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa from 1995 to 1998, and is now the executive Vice-President of the International Center for Transitional Justice.
