Redeployment with Phil Klay, Wednesday, February 10

You are invited to a private dinner with US Marine officer and winner of the National Book Award, Phil Klay.

The dinner will be hosted by John and Louisa Troubh on Wednesday, February 10, and will take place at their home on East 86th Sreet.

Phil will discuss his book, Redeployment, a critical look into the frontlines of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The book asks us to comprehend what happened abroad, and what happened to the soldiers who returned. Interwoven with themes of faith and the brutality of modern warfare, guilt and fear, helplessness and survival, the characters in these stories struggle to create meaning amidst the chaos.

Praise for Redeployment: “The best literary work thus far written by a veteran of America’s recent wars…. Klay’s fiction peels back every pretty falsehood and self-delusion in the encounter between veterans and the people for whom they supposedly fought.”— George Packer, The New Yorker

All proceeds will benefit PEN American Center.
