PEN America Winter 2017 Author’s Evening with Tom Colicchio

You are invited to a special dinner with writer and chef Tom Colicchio.  We anticipate that this Author’s Evening will be a uniquely stimulating and entertaining event.
 
The dinner will be hosted by fellow writer, chef, and cooking instructor Gail Monaghan in her loft just North of Madison Square Park on Wednesday, March 1st at 7:30 pm.  Gail will conduct the dinner as a class with guests seated round her large kitchen island.
 
Following the dinner, Tom will engage in conversation with food author and critic Ed Levine about food politics and culture and his cookbook Think Like a Chef . Winner of the James Beard Foundation “KitchenAid” Cookbook Award, this classic work demonstrates both easy and advanced techniques using simple steps to deconstruct a chef’s creative process. Written in Tom’s warm and friendly voice and illustrated with glorious photographs of finished dishes, Think Like a Chef brings out the master chef in its readers, and guests will all be sent a copy in advance of the dinner,
 
Copies of Gail’s celebrated and award-winning cookbook, It’s All in the Timing: Plan, Cook, and Serve Great Meals with Confidence, will also be made available to guests. 
 
Celebrated chef Tom Colicchio is the co-founder and former executive chef the Gramercy Tavern, and the founder of the nationwide hospitality group Crafted Hospitality. He is the recipient of five James Beard Foundation Awards and has been the head judge on every season of the Emmy Award-winning Bravo reality TV show “Top Chef,” as well as “Best New Restaurant” which he also executive produces. In an effort to broaden his long-standing social and political activism, Tom co-founded Food Policy Action in 2012 in collaboration with national food policy leaders, in order to hold legislators accountable on votes that have an effect on food and farming.
