Time: 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT
Location: Zoom
Donation to Attend: $150 per person

Join us for a special conversation with screenwriter, author, and director Scott Frank on his new Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit. The evening is generously sponsored by Craig Newmark.

The Queen’s Gambit, released in fall 2020, is an American coming-of-age period drama miniseries based on Walter Tevis’s 1983 novel. Beginning in the mid-1950s and proceeding into the 1960s, the story follows the life of Beth Harmon, an orphaned chess prodigy on her rise to the top of the chess world while struggling with drug and alcohol dependency. Join Frank to explore the creative process behind adapting a beloved, inspiring tale to the silver screen.

A $150 donation is required to attend this very special evening. This donation is considered 100 percent tax-deductible and supports PEN America’s mission to defend writers and free expression at a time of unprecedented need. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
