Date: Monday, April 19, 2021
Time: 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT
Location: Zoom
Donation to Attend: $125 per person

Join us for a special conversation with Jessica Bruder on her book, Nomadland, now a major motion picture.

In this stunning and beautifully written book, Bruder astounds as both author and journalist, describing her journey across the country as brought to life by interviews conducted in five states over three years, with more than 50 nomads in the first year alone. The often desperate nomads build communities wherever they land, offering tips for overcoming common troubles, sharing food, repairing vehicles, counseling each other through bouts of depression, and establishing a grapevine about potential employers. Though very little about Bruder’s excellent journalistic account offers hope for the future, hope radiates from within Nomadland: that hard work and persistence will lead to more stable situations. We are honored to be joined by Bruder to discuss the impact of her work, the journeys she has been on, and its adaptation for the big screen.

A $125 donation is required to attend this very special evening. This donation is considered 100 percent tax-deductible and supports PEN America’s mission to defend writers and free expression at a time of unprecedented need. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.

Space will be limited to 25 guests to facilitate audience participation and discussion. Following your RSVP, you will be sent the Zoom meeting invitation. This is a private video meeting, and only guests who are on the RSVP list will be permitted to join.
