PEN America Virtual Author’s Evening with J.T. Rogers and Bartlett Sher

Headshots of J.T. Rogers and Bartlett Sher, and Oslo book cover

Date: Thursday, July 1, 2021
Time: 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT
Location: Zoom
Donation to Attend: $125 per person

Join PEN America for an intimate evening with Tony Award winners J.T. Rogers and Bartlett Sher for their work on Oslo. Rogers is a playwright and screenwriter, as well as a Guggenheim Fellow. Sher is the resident director at Lincoln Center Theater and director of Oslo. This event is generously sponsored by Sheila and Bill Lambert.

Originally a play, and transformed to the screen, Rogers and Sher create a fascinating story where the bloody tension between Israel and Palestine has never been higher. When U.S.-led peace negotiations continue to fail, and violence tears the region apart, a Norwegian couple dared to try to help. The couple organizing a secret channel of negotiations in Oslo, Norway—where Israeli and Palestinian delegates were challenged to do something for the first time—face each other, not as mortal enemies, but as fellow human beings. We are honored to be joined by Rogers and Sher to discuss Oslo, the book and show that recounts the true-life back-channel negotiations in the development of the pivotal 1990s Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

A $125 donation is required to attend this very special evening. This donation is considered 100 percent tax-deductible and supports PEN America’s mission to defend writers and free expression at a time of unprecedented need. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
