Date: Tuesday, October 26, 2021
Time: 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT
Location: Zoom
Suggested Donation to Attend: $125 per person

Join us for an intimate evening with Evan Osnos discussing Wildland: The Making of America’s Fury. After a decade abroad, the National Book Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer returns to three places he has lived in the United States—Greenwich, CT; Clarksburg, WV; and Chicago, IL—to illuminate the origins of America’s political fury. This evening is hosted by Sewell Chan.

A dramatic, prescient examination of seismic changes in American politics and culture, Wildland is the story of a crucible, a period bounded by two shocks to America’s psyche, two assaults on the country’s sense of itself: the September 11 attacks in 2001 and the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Following the lives of everyday Americans in three cities and across two decades, Osnos exposes the country in a startling light, revealing how we lost the moral confidence to see ourselves as larger than the sum of our parts. Join us for a thought-provoking evening with Osnos in conversation with Chan, incoming editor-in-chief of The Texas Tribune and former Los Angeles Times senior editor.

A donation is suggested to attend this very special evening. The donation is considered 100 percent tax-deductible and supports PEN America’s mission to defend writers and free expression at a time of unprecedented need. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
