Nora Webster with Colm Toibin, Wednesday, February 11

At the home of Mary Breasted and Ted Smyth

You are invited to a private dinner with Irish novelist, essayist, short story writer, playwright, journalist, critic and poet Colm Tóibín. The dinner will be hosted by Mary Breasted and Ted Smyth on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at 7:30 pm and all contributions will benefit PEN American Center.

Colm will talk about his latest book, Nora Webster. “Nora Websterset in an Irish town in the late 1960s, with the Troubles beginning to rumble away like distant thunder beyond the horizon, is about a tough-minded Irish mother and a country morphing, so to speak, from Ulysses to Bloody Sunday. Explicitly, it is a powerful study of widowhood and grief of a woman in her prime and working out how she is going to live without ‘the love of her life’, her late, husband, Maurice Webster, a schoolmaster.”
