Freedom to Read Student Ambassadors Town Hall – May 2023

Freedom to Read Student Ambassadors Town Hall

PEN America and Brooklyn Public Library are excited to continue our Freedom to Read Student Ambassadors Town Halls for high school students this May! This collaborative forum for our certified Freedom to Read Student Ambassadors and other young advocates will allow participants to connect with each other and share successful advocacy solutions in the fight against book bans and educational censorship around the country.

The event will begin with brief updates from PEN America on book ban challenges nationwide, a recounting of available resources for student advocates, and then a conversation with an open agenda where students can ask questions, help each other strategize, and brainstorm advocacy and programming ideas. Students are able to submit agenda items on the Zoom registration form.

  • This program is FREE and available to all certified Freedom to Read Student Ambassadors and other high school students concerned about book bans and educational censorship.
  • Registration is required and will stay open through the day of the event, Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Please register as soon as possible if you plan on attending.
  • If you have any questions, email us at [email protected].
