Carsick with John Waters, Thursday, February 4

Please note: This dinner is now full. Please contact [email protected] for further information about the wait list.

This is a private dinner with John Waters, open only to invitees responding to the PEN Author’s Evening Invitation or to guests of the hosts.

The dinner will be hosted by Jacob Weisberg and Deborah Needleman on Thursday, February 4 at their Duane Street apartment.

John Waters, one of the most influential and beloved underground filmmakers in the history of American movies, puts his life on the line in his memoir, Carsick. Armed with wit, a pencil-thin mustache, and a cardboard sign that reads “I’m Not Psycho,” he hitchhikes across America from Baltimore to San Francisco, braving lonely roads and treacherous drivers. But who should we be more worried about, the delicate film director with genteel manners or the unsuspecting travelers transporting the Pope of Trash?

All proceeds will benefit PEN American Center.

Places are secured with a donation to PEN, please see below for options.
