Where: Southpaw: 125 Fifth Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn
What time: 7 p.m.

On Sunday, November 11, PEN American Center will launch PENultimate Lit, a new literary series that will explore the intersection of literature and the arts in the modern world. Curated with the help of Rick Moody, PENultimate Lit will bring together notable writers and artists in an attempt to discern what, in 21st Century, makes writing matter.

Participants in this first PENultimate Lit event include novelist Amanda Stern, author of the acclaimed The Long Haul; writer and professor Jonathan Baumbach; and acclaimed filmmaker Noah Baumbach, whose most recent film Margot at the Wedding premiered at the New York Film Festival on October 7. Amanda Stern will host the evening, and topics of discussion will range from Noah Baumbach’s most recent to the narrative relationship between film and fiction—particularly in an age that loves the image.

Subway: B/Q to 7th Ave, or 2, 3, 4, 5, D, B, N, R, Q, W at Pacific/Atlantic Avenues.
