Walter Dean Myers

Walter Dean Myers was the first award winner of the Printz Award for
Young Adult literature and has written many outstanding works of
fiction, nonfiction, and poetry for young people. His books include Hoops, Motown & Didi, Fallen Angels, Monster, Scorpions, and most recently, Autobiography of My Dead Brother.
He's a five-time recipient of the Coretta Scott King Award; a Newbery
Honoree; the winner of the first annual Virginia Hamilton Literary
Award; as well as the 1994 recipient of the Margaret A. Edwards Award
for Lifetime Achievement.
Myers helped establish the Walter Dean Myers Publishing Institute, part
of the Langston Hughes Children’s Literature Festival, and makes
frequent appearances with the National Basketball Association’s "Read
to Achieve" program. |
