Every year, PEN sends over 10,000 Handbooks for Writers in Prison, free of charge, to inmates around the country. Your donation will help us reach even more writers. A $25 dollar donation covers shipping and handling costs to send 12 Handbooks to inmates across the country.
The Prison Writing Program program sponsors an annual writing contest, publishes a free handbook for prisoners, provides one-on-one mentoring to inmates whose writing shows merit or promise, conducts workshops for former inmates, and seeks to get inmates' work to the public through literary publications and readings.
Your $50 donation allows us to continue supporting and fostering inmates' voices, as well as expand our programs to reach even more inmates across the country.
