Lee Stringer is a former editor and columnist for Street News. His essays and articles have appeared in a variety of other publications, including The Nation, the New York Times, and Newsday.
He is the author of Sleepaway School and Grand Central Winter; both won Washington Irving Book Awards. Stringer also took part in a discussion on writing with Kurt Vonnegut for a book entitled Like Shaking Hands With God. He received the Lannan Foundation residency fellowship in 2005. His newest book is entitled White People: Stories from All Over, expected to be published in the spring of 2011.
Stringer lives in Mamaroneck, New York.
